Studio Reset: 2026 Direction

I'm leaning into the idea of "making things exist" without the pressure of "making them good". When I was a kid it was a super power of mine to just make shit appear in the world. Now I'm trying to reclaim that power.

01 — Style and quality

One benefit of years of work is that I've had a lot of time to experiment with different styles and approaches to my work. I've also had a lot of time to experiment with different tools and technologies. I'm getting good at feeling when something fucking sucks and when it's good enough. Typically, sometimes I still produce something that sucks, but I'm getting better at knowing when to stop and when to keep going. I'm going to spend more time showing the process of "unsucking things". Does that make sense?

02 — Live music rocks

I like watching performances that just happen out of thinair. I think the most noble and rebellious act of artistic creation is to just be yourself and let it happen. I've struggled with this for a long time, but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

03 — What Charlie Parker might say

Hard to know, but I think Spike and Jet from Cowboy Bebop might say something like "It's all about the groove". I'm going to try to make more things that have a groove. I have this feeling that a solid creative groove may inspire collaboration, creation on a higher level. It reminds me of stews I used to have as a kid where the flavors blend together and you just have to let it happen. At the end of the day, you've got something nourishing and delicious to share with the world. I want to feed my spirit with this kind of creation.
